I just wanted to say a few things about Dakota Birds:
I have hunted Dakota Birds 3 times in the past 2 years, once in 2007, and twice in 2008, and am pre-booked for 2009.
I have hunted South Dakota two ways, High end (flew up on private jet and hunted some of the bigger named outfits) and drove up myself and hunted Dakota Birds. Both ways produced great bird limits; after all we are talking about South Dakota "PHEASANT CAPITAL OF NORTH AMERICA." Both ways are good hunts, depending on your wallet size. I do though consider myself a blue-collar hunter, so that is why I've been so impressed with Dakota Birds.
Tom and Stan do a fantastic job of letting you do your own thing. Do they have a big fancy lodge with cooked meals and wine cellar, "no," but if you like the true outdoors feel they have a nice little family farm house that sleeps 9, with full kitchen, TV.-sat, rock thrower, and gas grill. A very get-away environment for you and your friends ad your dogs to get away for a few days and harvest limits of ditch parrots.
These guys have some great ground with trees, grass, crop, and sloughs; we have yet to spend more than 4 hours in the fields to produce our limits. They have dogs and will guide but if you just want to use your dogs that's fine by them too.
I would like to thank Tom & Stan Waterbury for the opportunity to hunt their property over the last couple of years, and am looking forward to next fall already.
See you next year!
